Lisa Della Chiesa

Artist & Costume Designer

Lisa is a visual artist and costume designer working between Dublin and the West of Ireland. She holds a BFA with Honours in Textile Fine Art from NCAD and an MFA with Distinction in Stage Design from The Lir Academy. Her work operates at the intersection of wearable sculpture and performance art. Using found and repurposed materials, Lisa constructs textile pieces directly around the body — transforming discarded fabric and objects into layered, sculptural forms that interrogate our relationship to clothing, consumption, and the natural world. Each piece carries distinct narrative weight, informed by her dual background in textile fine art and stage design, and shaped by a sustained engagement with electronic music and movement. Her practice moves fluidly between the gallery, the stage, and live performance, positioning the body as both site and subject. Rooted in a rigorous material process of dyeing, deconstruction, and painting, her work is tactile and ceremonial, made to be worn, witnessed, and felt. Lisa has received the Arts Council of Ireland Agility Award 2024 and was commissioned by Creative Ireland to create artwork in honour of St. Brigid’s Day 2024. Lisa is also a member of the MART.
