Snapshot of a Bog Body

This work imagines a figure who has returned to their roots, becoming one with the bog itself. Photographed in Moycollen, Galway, the piece captures someone caught in a liminal state of neither fully alive nor entirely gone. Dancing through the landscape with unsettling celebration. Drawing on the tradition of ancient bog bodies preserved in peat, we reverse the narrative: here, the bog is not a grave but a homecoming. The figure runs and moves with ecstatic energy, as if dissolution into the earth is not something to fear but to embrace. Bark replaces flesh, fabric becomes shroud, and the bog transforms into a threshold between states of being.
